... der Schock der unvorhergesehenen Begegnung nach einem träumerischen
Spaziergang (Marie de Brugerolle)
Pierre-Olivier Arnaud präsentiert ein Projekt, das aus einer Zusammenstellung
von Fotografien und einem Wandbild besteht. Das Wandbild rekonstruiert
im Maßstab 1:1 den Bühnenhintergrund der Fernsehsendung Top
of the Pops der späten sechziger Jahre. Als Raum mit falscher Perspektive
wird er hier als wiederholt zu untersuchende Oberfläche wiederaufgeführt.
Die Fotos sind Teil einer größeren Serie, die sowohl aus
Bildern von realen und fiktiven Räumen zusammengestellt ist als
auch aus Fotografien von Fotografien. Die hier präsentierte Auswahl
setzt sich nur aus Foto-Fotos von Dokumenten und Bildern zusammen, die
Stereotypen der Moderne und des Spektakels entnommen sind. Alle führen
sie mit ihrem kleinen Format (30x36,5cm) in der Wiederholung und mit
Abstand diese Standards als überlebt, ihrer Erhabenheit enthoben
vor.
Die Ausstellung schlägt verschiedene Maßstäbe, Zustände
und mögliche Beziehungsarten zum Bild vor, mit denen jeder einzelne
experimentieren mag.
Der Betrachter soll verschiedentlich in eine Situation gebracht werden,
in der er einen Standpunkt finden muss, der nicht mehr offensichtlich
ist, einen oder seinen Blick angesichts des gezeigten Bildes.
Es wäre dann die Erfahrung des Bildes ohne die Faszination, ohne
das Blendende.
Zu dieser Gelegenheit wird das Buch mirror ball präsentiert (80
Seiten, 22 Abbildungen, schwarzweiß, Texte auf deutsch, englisch
und französisch von Marie de Brugerolle)
Der Fotograf Pierre-Olivier Arnaud war 2004 Stipendiat des Austauschprogramms
von Bildenden Künstlern zwischen dem Land Baden-Württemberg
und der Region Rhône-Alpes und Gast im Atelier des Institut français,
wo mirror ball entstand.

The exhibition Mirror Ball brings together
a series of photographs and a drawing conceived for the exhibition.
The drawing is a 1:1 reconstruction of the set background from the TV
broadcast Top of the Pops in the late sixties. The space constructed
with false perspective is replayed here as a surface for our reconsideration.
The photos are part of a larger series, which comprises both images
of real and fictive spaces, and photographs of photographs. The selection
presented here consists solely of photographed photographs of documents
and pictures, which represent stereotypes of modernity and spectacle.
Through their small size (30x36,5cm) and the act of repetition and distancing,
they present these standards as tired out and stripped of grandeur.
The exhibition suggests a variety of scales, states, and possible ways
of relating to the images that the viewer can play with. We are brought
into a situation, in which we are forced to find a viewpoint that is
no longer obviously suggested by the exhibited images. It is an experience
of looking without being dazzled, without fascination. During the exhibition
the book Mirror Ball will be presented (Mirror Ball, 80p, 22 illustrations,
black and white, text in french and german, Marie de Brugerolle).

L’exposition Mirror Ball rassemble une série de photographies
et un dessin conçu pour l’exposition.
Le dessin est une reconstitution à l’échelle 1 d’un
fond de décor de l’émission téléviséee
anglaise Top of the Pops. Faux espace perspectif, il est ici rejoué
comme a-minima et reste un espace à investir, une surface de
projection possible.
Les photographies quant à elles font partie d’une série
plus vaste composée autant d’images de lieux réels
que fictifs que de photographies de photographies. La sélection
présentée ici n’est constituée que de re-photographies
de documents et images empruntés aux stéréotypes
de la modernité et du spectacle.
Toutes de petits formats (30x36,5cm), elles rejouent ces standards à
distance et comme éteints et désublimés.
L’exposition propose différentes échelles, statuts
et mode de relation possibles à l’image que chacun peut
expérimenter. Il s’agirait alors de faire l’expérience
de l’image sans la fascination, sans l’aveuglement.
A l’occasion de l’exposition le livre Mirror Ball sera présenté
( Mirror Ball 80p, 22ill, noir et blanc, texte français/allemand
de Marie de Brugerolle).
