(english)"Der Begriff Identität ist eng mit dem
Land, der Heimat verbunden.
Unter Territorium verstehe ich einen bestimmten Raum, der uns als Personen
formt und in dem sich unser Tun widerspiegelt.
Er beinhaltet persönliche Nuancen, die mit Geschichte, Natur, Politik,
häuslichem Umfeld und Kindheit verbunden sind.
Meine künstlerischen Untersuchungen stehen im Kontext eines work in
progress Langzeitprojektes mit dem Titel "Territory of Intimacy" in
verschiedenen postsozialistischen -sowjetischen und postkolonialen Ländern.
Sie beschäftigen sich mit der Auswirkung jahrelanger Diktatur und Fremdbestimmung
auf die Identität, das ethnische Zusammenleben und die zwischenmenschlichen
Beziehungen.
Wesentlich für meine künstlerische Aussage sind der interkulturelle
und völkerverständigende Ansatz im Vergleich der Kulturen.
In den letzten Jahren habe ich Forschungsprojekte über Identitätsfragen
in Balkan- und Kaukasusregionen Albanien, Armenien und im südostasiatischen
Taiwan entwickelt. Im Ergebnis dieser Projekte entstanden Videofilme
und Fotos über das Rollenverhalten zwischen Frau und Mann, die
aktuelle gesellschaftliche Situation und die Zukunftsvorstellungen ethnischer
Gruppen innerhalb der Bevölkerung."

Territories of Intimacy

"The concept of identity is closely associated with the native
country, with "home".
I understand by the term "territory" a specific space, on
one hand shaping us as individuals and on the other hand reflecting
our actions.
It comprises personal nuances, which are connected to history, nature,
politics, domestic environment and childhood.
My artistic investigations are embedded in a long-term work in progress
project with the title: "Territory of Intimacy" dealing with
issues in post-socialist, post-soviet and post-colonial states.
For instance one subject is the effect that a longstanding dictatorship
and heteronomy has on personal identity, on ethnic coexistence and interpersonal
relationships.
The main issue for my artistic statement is the intercultural approach
for understanding and comparing different societies.
In the last years I have developed research projects about identity
issues in the Balkan and Caucasus regions, like Albania and Armenia.
The outputs of those projects are mainly video films and photographical
sets, and are concerned with the following questions:
Which influence on identity has the role behaviour of men and women
in different ethnic groups within the population?"
