(english)Das Exotische - bisher Begriff für einen eurozentrisch geprägten, schwärmerischen Blick auf ferne Welten - hat im 21. Jahrhundert eine neue globale Bedeutung bekommen. Exotisches begegnet jedem Menschen fast überall auf der Welt im täglichen Leben auf diverse Art, sei es in Form von Menschen, Waren, in Kulinarischem, Musik, Bildern, Gerüchen, in den Medien, den Wissenschaften, der Medizin etc. Heute sind künstliche Exotik-Erlebniswelten ein massgeblicher Faktor der Unterhaltungs- und Kulturindustrie in aller Welt. Tourismus dient als Ritual kultureller Grenzsetzungen und gegenseitiger "Exotisierung“.

Seit 2004 haben Christine Falk und Alfred Banze mehrere internationale Kunst- und Kulturaustauschprojekte realisiert, die sie vor Ort immer wieder in völlig fremde Kulturen eintauchen ließen. Die dadurch ausgelösten Lernprozesse gaben den Anstoß für die Entwicklung von partizipativen Projekten, die sie in Berlin mit Kindern, Jugendlichen, Erwachsenen und Senioren realisierten. Diese Erweiterung der Wahrnehmung hat letztlich eine Veränderung in der Kunst von Christine Falk bewirkt, weg vom Narrativen hin zu starker Reduktion, ein Spiel, eine Balance mit Farben, Formen und Texturen, Malerei zwischen Realität und Abstraktion. Auch thematische Installationen entstehen. Die medialen Installationen und Zeichnungen von Alfred Banze sind poetische Bedeutungsräume, Wunderkammern des Unbeabsichtigten. Für ihn sind Schreiben, Zeichnen und Musizieren wie Kinder der gleichen Idee: der direkten Notation eines Einfalls, einer Stimmung, im Moment ihres Entstehens.

Vor zwei Jahren realisierten Christine Falk & Alfred Banze in Bangkok und Berlin die Ausstellung „Exotika 2013“, mit Gästen aus Thailand, China, Frankreich, R.D. Congo, Tahiti, USA und Deutschland, mit Workshops, Talks und Performances. In der Oberwelt in Stuttgart reflektieren die beiden ihr Projekt, sie zeigen dazu neue Arbeiten und stellen in einem Performance-Vortrag ihre Fragestellungen und Ergebnisse vor.

There is no secret - Exotica 2015

The exotic – previously a term used to describe a Eurocentric, rapturous view of distant worlds – has taken on a new global meaning in the 21st century. Almost everyone all over the world encounters the exotic in various ways on a daily basis, be it in the form of people, commodities, smells, in the media, the sciences, medicine etc. Today, artificial exotic worlds of experience are a major factor in the entertainment and cultural industry across the world. Tourism serves as a ritual of establishing cultural boundaries and mutual “exotification”

Since 2004, Christine Falk and Alfred Banze have realised several international art and cultural exchange projects that have repeatedly enabled them to immerse themselves in a completely foreign culture. The resulting learning processes provided the impetus for developing a series of participative projects that the artists carried out with children, youths, adults and elderly in Berlin. This widening of perception ultimately led to a change in Christine Falk’s artistic practice, a move away from narrative towards sharp reduction, a play, a balance of colours, forms, textures, painting between reality and abstraction. Thematic installations also ensued. Alfred Banze’s media installations and drawings are poetic semantic spaces, wonder-rooms of the unintentional. For him the acts of writing, drawing and making music are from the same mould: the immediate notation of an idea, a mood, in the moment that it arises.

Two years ago, Christine Falk & Alfred Banze realised the exhibition “Exotica 2013” in Bangkok and Berlin with guests from Thailand, China, France, D.R. Congo, Tahiti, U.S.A. and Germany. The exhibition was accompanied by workshops, talks and performances. At Oberwelt in Stuttgart the two artists will reflect on their project, show new works and present their questions and findings in a performance lecture.
