(english) Petra Lottje arbeitet mit Reflexionen über präzise ausgewählte Sequenzen medial vermittelter Lebenswirklichkeiten.
In vier sehr kurzen, einfach gemachten und inhaltlich komplexen Kurzvideos rückt sich die Künstlerin stellvertretend als Sprecherin ins Bild.
So auch bei THANKS, mit rund 10 Minuten dem längsten Video. In einem Essay von Katrin Günther steht dazu:
“(…) Das große, womöglich immerwährende Glück, wie es die Kinoleinwand
mitunter erschafft, bleibt die pathetische Illusion einer ganz weltlichen Unterhaltungsindustrie. Wirklich glücklich darf sich dagegen schätzen, wer die unscheinbaren echten Momente des eigenen Lebens nicht verpasst.”

Eine eigens für diese Ausstellung produzierte und in Stuttgart aufgenommene Videoarbeit wird bei “No Gloom. THANKS” uraufgeführt.

Petra Lottje works with reflections on carefully selected sequences of medially conveyed everyday realities. In four very short videos, simply made but complex in terms of content, the artist takes on the role of announcer. This is also the case with THANKS, which at 10 minutes is the longest video. In an essay, Katrin Günther writes the following about it:

“(…) The good, possibly everlasting, fortune that is often created on the big screen remains the melodramatic illusion of an entirely secular entertainment industry. On the other hand, those who can count themselves truly fortunate are those who don’t miss the unspectacular genuine moments of their own life.”

A video work that was recorded in Stuttgart and produced specifically for this exhibition will be premiered at “No Gloom. THANKS”.
