(english)Das Ausstellungsprojekt Genius Loci befasst sich mit der zeitgenössischen Bedeutung und Interpretation des aus der römischen Mythologie stammenden Begriffs des "Geists des Ortes".

Wir möchten die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Geist des Ortes anregen.

Was bedeutet in unserer digitalisierten Welt `Ort` für uns?
Welche spezifischen Charakteristika prägen unser jeweiliges Umfeld, wie werden diese wahrgenommen, wodurch sind sie gefährdet oder wie widersetzen sie sich einem mittlerweile global ähnlichen Trend des Raumdesigns?
Welche Bezüge gibt es zum Geist? Welches Verständnis von Geist gibt es im zeitgenössischen Kontext überhaupt noch?

Wir laden KünstlerInnen aus allen künstlerischen Bereichen, sei es bildende Kunst, Fotografie, Performance, Musik, Architektur oder Literatur dazu ein, den Geist des Ortes aufzuspüren, ihn aus der Flasche zu lassen und ihre Sichtweise auf spektakuläre oder auch unscheinbare Orte darzustellen.

Genius Loci besteht aus einer offenen Ausschreibung, einer daraus kuratierten Ausstellung und einem Beiprogramm.

Genius Loci - Group exhibition - Call for submissions

The exhibition project Genius Loci deals with the contemporary meaning and interpretation of the concept of the "spirit of the place", which originates from Roman mythology

We want to stimulate the artistic exploration of this term.

What does „place“ mean in our digital world? What specific characteristics shape our environment? How are they perceived? What are they at risk of? And how do they oppose to a globally similar trend in spatial design?
What are the references to the spirit? What kind of understanding of the spirit can be found in a contemporary context?

We invite artists from all fields of art, be it fine art, photography, architecture, film, performance, music or literature to spot the spirit of the place, to leave it out of the bottle, and to present their views on spectacular or even inconspicuous places.

Genius Loci consists of an open call, a curated exhibition and a side program.
