Thomas Volkwein

(english)„Von den Giebeln rufen Krähen:

Januar, 19:00 Uhr

Besichtigung der Ausstellung bis 9. Februar
Mo. 21:30 bis 24:00 u.n.V. unter Tel: 0711-650067

Outposts
Thomas Volkwein

‘Crows calling from the gables:
Pilot’s joy, clear run ahead.
To the upper reaches, to the source,
Where this and that began.
Faces in the undergrowth
Form coloured shadows like gossamer.’

Thomas Volkwein, born 1971, prefers to do his voyaging inside his head.
An admirer of the artistic spoils of travellers like Joseph Conrad and George Catlin, in his studio he makes his own discoveries, incorporating the scenery on his doorstep as he conjures up the memory of past places, people and encounters in his works.
As his materials he uses oil paint, acrylic paint and lacquer, as well as found objects of every variety -- or he makes the items for his assemblages and installations himself.
His modern cargo cult knows no limits, with every last trinket finding its place in a world of images and stagecraft.
This is art exhibition as travelling theatre, as a journey to the outposts of individual and historical memory.

Opening Friday, 11th of January 2019, 7 pm

The exhibition can be viewed until the 9th of February

Mondays from 9:30 pm till midnight and by appointment
